I love this simple recipe for when we are expecting family or friends to come in for a visit. I even sometimes just make this for Travis and I and we reheat leftovers in the microwave throughout the week. It does reheat well. This is a older recipe I found online and have adjusted to make it my own.
I have 1lb of Jimmy Dean sausage, but you can use any breakfast sausage crumbled. Same goes for the biscuits. It’s whatever brand you have on hand. I’ve used the stores name brand and it worked out just as good. The peppered gravy mix comes in a small packet. We like to use the pioneer brand, but the McCormick brand has been good also.
Give this recipe a try and let us know what you did differently! This is always one of our favorites and a must try!
Sausage Gravy & Biscuits Casserole

- 1 lb sausage (we used Jimmy Dean Regular)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Grease the 13×9 baking dish.
- Brown the sausage in skillet and drain off the grease.
- Cut all the biscuits into fours (1" inch pieces). Line the baking dish bottom with the biscuits.
- Layer cooked sausage over the biscuit pieces and then shredded cheese over sausage.
- Whisk eggs and milk, add salt and pepper and pour over biscuit/layers.
- Make gravy according to instructions, and pour over everything.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until eggs and biscuits are cooked through.
- Serve warm

What is “peppered gravy mix”??
It comes in a package. McCormick makes it and we have a brand called Pioneer as well. Either one will work.
