Cherry Cobbler

Total Time1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21oz)
  • Don't forget the ice cream for topping!

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F
  • Place your stick of butter in the 9×13 glass baking dish and go ahead and put your baking dish with the butter in the oven. Allowing the stick of butter to melt while the oven is preheating. Once the butter is melted, pull the dish out of the oven.
  • Pour cherry filling in a small bowl and stir in 1/2 a cup of sugar. Then set filling aside.
  • Mix together all remaining ingredients in a medium size bowl. (1 cup of self rising flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla, 1 egg, and 1 cup of milk) Once combined well, pour into the 9×13 melted butter dish. DO NOT MIX or STIR!
  • Using a spoon, drop the cherry filling mix on top of the batter/butter. The batter will rise around the cherries. Be sure to drop your filling around the dish. We want to avoid stirring or mixing here is why we drop the filling where we want it with a spoon.
  • Place in the 350 degree F oven and bake for 1 hour or until the top is golden brown. To check if the batter is fully cooked, use a tooth pick. If the toothpick comes out clean then it's ready.
  • Once ready, serve hot with your favorite vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
